Somewhere in the midst of the coming storm a little black creature was standing on top of the tall rocks that mark the beginning of Moon Dragon’s territory. Strong winds threaten to toss the small black bundle of fur towards the ground but he kept his balance. Bruised and covered with scraps he spread his wings and began to flap them trying to take off…however once again the weight of the baby fur still on those huge awkward wings made him plummet into the dirt.
A small whimper escaped the young dragonling as he tried to make himself balance despite the awkward wings pulling him down. His name was Shadow a dragonling who appeared much smaller then most young dragon’s his age. His fur was black with a crimson shine in come areas but what made Shadow the most interesting was the determined look he held in those amethyst eyes.
He had been at this even before the sun had arisen, sneaking out of the cave where all dragonlings sleep Shadow had made it to the one spot that not even his own father would probably think of…at the borderline, one of the best places to practice. He wanted so much to fly to be in the skies with the adults to help them fight the Sun Dragons and bring the meals back to those too weak to do so.
Shadow had probably done the same routine over fifty times and the young dragonling ignore the rambling hunger in his stomach, or he did not seem to notice the sun was not up or the dark clouds speaking of a terrible storm to come. No to young dragonling there was only this. Once again the small dragon climb that rock and once again he jumped off and of course crash harshly into the ground – gravity was not being the dragonling’s bestfriend today.
